Card Readers: Playing cards have long been used in divination and although you can get a reading from an ordinary deck of 52 cards, other cards have been developed since the 15th century specifically for divination.
- Tarot Cards: illustrated 78 card deck using the Major Arcana (22 cards) and the Minor Arcana (56 cards – 4 suits with 14 cards in each suit). There are many different types of Tarot Card decks (Rider-Waite deck, Mythic Tarot, Crowley-Harris Toth deck, etc.) but they all use the same formula of Major and Minor Arcana spread in either a Celtic Cross (10 card spread) for a full reading or the 3 card spread to answer specific questions.
- Angel Cards: illustrated cards that have their origins in Tarot cards but without the stigma of cards like The Devil. For those who are looking from guidance from cards, but want to stay away from the “perceived dark side” associated with Tarot card divination.
- Destiny Cards: a regular deck of playing cards, with a specific value assigned to each of the 52 cards in the deck used for divination.

Psychic: The original name for those who could see the future was Seers – see-ers. This is a broad category generally used to describe someone who divines information about a person, place or thing, past, present or future, without using Astrology, Numerology, Runes, or I Ching instead relying on impressions they receive through the "ethers", the connective fibre of the universe. Straight psychics do not use tools to answer a client question: they "tune into" the client’s frequency when they hear the client’s voice.
- Clairvoyant: Is able to divine the future by "seeing" images of people, places and things.
- Clairaudient: Hears answers to specific questions.
- Clairsentient: Feels in their body what the client is feeling.
- Prophetic: Doesn’t hear or see or feel answers, rather they "just know".
- Medium: A branch of psychic divination where the seer acts as the "medium" for the exchange between the client and the spirit world to bring answers from the spiritual world to the material world. Some mediums access their own "spirit guide" for answers, some contact the spirits of people who have crossed over and have information for the people left behind and some mediums access both their own spirit guides who then relay information from the clients spirit guides as well as direct contact with spirits of people who have crossed over.
- Psychics may or may not use different tools to assist them in their divination. Tarot cards, tea leaves, coffee grounds, animal entrails, bones, coins, crystal balls and bowls of liquid have all been used as tools to divine the future and all of them serve as a focal point for the psychic to divine answers from. The Oracle of Delphi had "visions" from inhaling either burning marijuana vapors or ethylene gas fumes (depending on who you want to believe), Nostradamus gazed into a bowl of water on a tripod by the light of a candle to write his Centuries of prophesies while Biblical king Saul went to a Seer (Samuel) to inquire where his father’s lost donkeys were. People have always wanted to know what the future holds and since the very beginning there have been people who have the gift of foresight. I was born with a "veil" over my face as was Jennifer, a time-honored mark of one with the Divine Gift of Prophecy.
